The beauty of working with clay is that it can be recycled many times over as long as it has not been fired in the kiln. If the clay piece that I am working with is not to my liking I place it in a container, add enough water to seep into the clay without making it too soggy and leave for a day or two, covered. Once the water has been absorbed and has distributed itself evenly and the clay feels creamy, without too many bumps and lumps I know that I can scoop it up usually onto a plaster of paris batt. Although in this case I just used a piece of hardboard and the clay dried easily enough in the warmth of the winter sun.
